Use cases

A website for a service business

The customer is looking for a contractor. They check what you do, how it turned out for others and what it costs.

Scenarios

Three situations from a working week

On a typical company website each of them ends with a call to the IT person.

Monday, 8:40am

You take on a new service

You have started installing heat pumps. There is not a word about it on the site, because adding a section needs somebody who knows the code.

In LessCMS: you add an entry to the service list — name, description, price from, photo. The subpage and the menu item appear by themselves.

Wednesday, 5:20pm

You finish a job

You have ten photos from the site. They go to Facebook, because putting them on the website would take a week of emails.

In LessCMS: you open the panel on your phone, add the project and the photos. The gallery updates immediately.

Friday, midday

A customer asks about price

You have put your rates up, but the site still shows a price list from two years ago. The customer calls to complain.

In LessCMS: you change the number in the "price from" field. It shows everywhere, because it is a single source of data.

What you build

The site you will end up with

Service and project subpages are created from the lists. You do not click them together and you do not police the menu.

/ homepage with services and reviews /services a list of every service /services/heat-pumps a separate page for each service /projects a gallery filtered by type /projects/house-in-zabierzow a single project with photos /quote a form asking about scope /contact details, map, hours
Content model

One service is one form

You set once what fields a service has. After that, adding another means filling those fields in — with no page to lay out from scratch.

  • Every service has its own address — people land on it from search
  • A form enquiry lands in the panel and in your inbox
  • You add a project from your phone, straight after the job

Where to start

Three steps to get going

1

Write out your services

There are usually between five and fifteen. Name, short description, price from.

2

Upload photos from your jobs

A few of the best will do. You can add the rest as you go.

3

Connect your domain

The certificate is issued automatically and you set redirects from old addresses in the panel.

Build a site you can update yourself

No card and no sales call. See whether it can be done after hours.
